Ballymurphy Inquest: Anger over manner of PM apology

Posted: 14 May 2021 04:49 PM PDT

Relatives of the Ballymurphy victims have spoken of their anger over a written apology from the prime minister.
An inquest has found 10 people, who were shot in the wake of an Army operation in Belfast, were "entirely innocent".
Families received the letter from Boris Johnson on Thursday morning.
John Teggart, whose father Daniel was among the victims, said the tone and timing of the apology was unacceptable.
He said...

Thought I'd jump on the old bandwagon and make the move on from the "what did you brew today" thread. I suppose that even if no-one reads it I'll have a record for myself 😂 Oh well, here goes 😱

Busy day today. After setting out at kegging my Old Freckled Chicken and being faced with the prospect of having an empty FV I decided today would be my second consecutive brew day.

I'm now on a mission to use up existing hop supplies with a 25kg sack of clear choice pale malt but didn't have enough...

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

Who gets complacent on sanitation?

I would bet there are 3 different levels.

1) Complusive do everything all the time.

2) Half and half probably started off as 1) but having had no issues maybe take a few short cuts now.

3) Still rinse and use boiled water but having had no issues not too worried about the whole thing.

Just like the other cool kids, time to move away from individual posts and collate everything from now on into a single thread.....

AG#15 "Podium" Late Hopped IPA ('cos there are 3 kinds of hops, innit)

This is actually a rebrew of my AG#5, probably still my personal favourite brew to date - but there are a few tweaks, oh, and some stuff to make it way more complicated than it needed to be - why can't I just keep things simple!
  • I had my first go at water...

Low cost all grain hoppy IPA recipe?

Posted: 14 May 2021 02:39 PM PDT

Does anyone have an IPA recipe that is hoppy and sweet-tasting without the need to sell a kidney to buy all the hops?

I've brewed a couple of IPA's with a small number of hops and they have been disappointing. But pricing up recipes with lots of hops makes it more cost-effective just to buy commercial IPA's.

Thanks!

Edited 29/9/2020 -
Its generally agreed Orange Wine isn't very nice and few make it a second time the good news is the method used in the videos below is the same for all supermarket juice so if you are not keen on the sound of orange wine read on -

Some members are finding their supermarkets are not stocking White grape juice but have Red grape juice, Red grape juice goes well with apple, cranberry, pomegranate or raspberry...

Turbo Cider - does anyone add acid?

Posted: 14 May 2021 01:47 PM PDT

I've made a couple of small batches of cider from supermarket juice concentrate and found it a bit bland. I will add a bit more Yorkshire tea next time, but I was wondering about some malic acid - the pH seems nearer 4 than 3. Any thoughts?
Cheers!

Can't mash for 8 weeks so kit time....

Posted: 14 May 2021 01:43 PM PDT

I have purchased a selection of Coopers kits. The plan is to make them up to only 13 litres, with no sugar or DME addition. UNLESS you knowledgeable people have a better plan. Posted here rather than the kit forum as I want full mash quality...

What did you brew today?

Some people may not want to write out a full brewday report but just say what they brewed.

So what did you brew today?

I made a 'bit's and bobs stout' to use up the odds and ends of grain I had
