Angram beer pull advice

Posted: 08 Jun 2021 06:05 PM PDT

Hey guys!

So I just bought an Angram hand pull for my brews. What is the easiest way (and hopefully the most cost effective) to get it up and running?
Many thanks!!

Pressure Fermenting and bottling

Posted: 08 Jun 2021 04:48 PM PDT

Hi guys, looking for a little help, have got an 'All Rounder' for my birthday and getting a spunding valve, which means as far aa i know with a regulator and Cannister i can pressure ferment.
What's the protocol for bottling instead of kegging
with a pressure setup? What else do i need to buy?
Whatever you do dont tell my wife!

Stir plates. How effective are they?

Posted: 08 Jun 2021 04:09 PM PDT

Looking at the pitch calculators it looks like a stir plate can make a massive difference, trebling or quadrupling yeast cells. Does peoples experience bear this out?

I'm never going to build one but you can buy them quite cheap now, cheaper in fact than buying a bigger flask. I've a standard 2litre flask to make 1 litre starters.

If I use a stir plate , would that give me enough cell growth in a 1 litre starter to cover at 19 litres at a max of 1065OG? let say the yeast is 3 months old...

Covid the jab and the final stage.

SWMBO is a front line worker (carer) she has had the first jab and is now tested twice a week she also has the lateral flow test with the results showing 30 minutes after the test whenever she goes to work on the other days, there are no cases of Covid where she works and there hasn't been for quite a while.

I am hoping as a front line worker my turn will come soon my age will also help, its not often i am glad i am an old fart. :laugh8:

Bottling a Triple NEIPA

Posted: 08 Jun 2021 03:33 PM PDT

Okay so I've made a Triple 10% New England IPA BIAB as my second brew ever. I know I know I went in at the deep end but go big or go home! I just thought I would keep a record of any change in colour and oxidation on here and if you're interested just follow along.

Ask me any questions!

The picture is an undercarbed (4days 30mins in the freezer test PET bottle) sample of the beer and my god if it stays like this for 2 weeks with a little more carbonation I'm a happy boy!

Another "Is it ruined" question

Posted: 08 Jun 2021 02:04 PM PDT

Brewed a Belgian Tripel over the weekend (Saturday). Pitched into the fermenter at low 20 degrees, though the Grainfather conical seemed to think it was about 4 or so degrees higher as it always does (why is It I can never get any thermometers to agree!). Using White Labs WLP550 Belgian Ale Yeast (20 - 26 degrees) form a yeast starter that seemed to be going well. We waited for the temp of the wort to cool for a few hours and pitched at about 23 degrees indicated that evening even thought...

Pilsner Urquell clone - not enough diastic power in recipe?

Posted: 08 Jun 2021 01:56 PM PDT

I was/am planning to make this Plzensky Prazdroj's Pilsner Urquell clone - Brew Your Own clone of Pilsner Urquell but when I enter the grains into the Brewers Friend recipe calculator it flags up the Diastic Power as only 9 and apparently it should be >30. Should I be worried about this?

So I guess I'm rather new here so I hope it's ok to start a thread here, I think it might be more useful than the written records I keep.

Today trying a stepped starter for the first time since the packs of Lallemand diamond yeast I have are not even remotely close to the pitch rate I'm looking for the two lagers I'm looking to do this weekend. I had thought of just doing one but if I'm going to tie up my fermenting fridge for weeks at a low temperature I thought I might as well make best...
