Thought I would have all of my brewdays in one thread so that I can look back with ease.

AG#3 - Greg Hughes Northern Brown Ale

24/05/21 - Prep (2hrs 18:00 -20:00)
  • Weighed all the grain and hops last night.
  • Water additions for the first time.
    • Tap water had alkalinity of 66.23ppm and calcium of 70ppm. Was aiming for target alkalinity of 75ppm and calcium of 100ppm (as per strange Steve water treatment thread). Toyed with leaving the alkalinity as is due...

With Father's Day approaching I've been dropping some hints, but it would be helpful if anyone has a discount code?

So I guess I'm rather new here so I hope it's ok to start a thread here, I think it might be more useful than the written records I keep.

Today trying a stepped starter for the first time since the packs of Lallemand diamond yeast I have are not even remotely close to the pitch rate I'm looking for the two lagers I'm looking to do this weekend. I had thought of just doing one but if I'm going to tie up my fermenting fridge for weeks at a low temperature I thought I might as well make best...

Plate Chillers again

Is there a correct way to connect the water and wort pipes, or does it not make any difference.

I've seen a photo whIch labels the water inlet on the opposite end to the wort inlet.

Just tried MJ juicy IPA only 3 weeks in the bottle so in a month or so it'll be even better.
I can honestly say if I was served it in a pub I'd be more than happy, it's gorgeous

Help needed for first time kegging

Posted: 13 Jun 2021 08:54 AM PDT

Hello, I kegged my first beer last week. I had 25L in the fermenter, put 18L in the keg and bottled the rest, so I thought it would be a good idea to mix in priming sugar into the FV so the entire batch is equally primed in bottled and keg. One week later I cracked open a bottle, it was carbonated, really pleasant but for one week in the bottle still had some green flavours as you can imagine. Yesterday I wanted to see how the keg was getting on so I gently pulled the ring to see if any gas...

Covid the jab and the final stage.

SWMBO is a front line worker (carer) she has had the first jab and is now tested twice a week she also has the lateral flow test with the results showing 30 minutes after the test whenever she goes to work on the other days, there are no cases of Covid where she works and there hasn't been for quite a while.

I am hoping as a front line worker my turn will come soon my age will also help, its not often i am glad i am an old fart. :laugh8:

What did you brew today?

Some people may not want to write out a full brewday report but just say what they brewed.

So what did you brew today?

I made a 'bit's and bobs stout' to use up the odds and ends of grain I had
