| Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report Posted: 13 Aug 2021 06:47 PM PDT Hey there folks. I just started my first grow of the plants i purchased from essentially hops. At the start i have to mention that i am really pleased with the grow. The plants arrived wrapped in separate packages surrounded by moss for keeping them moist. The plants were labeled and had a instructions included clearly saying what soil to use and etc.  The rhizomes were planted on the day they arrived... Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report |

Posted: 13 Aug 2021 05:55 PM PDT I'm going to make another fruit based wine (using strawberries and some other berries all currently frozen) and just wanted to check forum member's experience of the initial process please as there seems to be conflicting information out there. 1) Last time I made a fruit wine I defrosted and mashed the fruit, added a Campden tablet and left it for a day to kill off any wild yeast. Our current car, a VW Touran, needs a fair amount of money spending on it so we are looking to replace it. We've been happy with it, in particular the size, versatility and solid build. We've got 3 kids between 6 and 14, want petrol because we don't do huge numbers of miles and want 3 proper seats in the back. Could be labelled SUV, MPV or estate but we want plenty of boot space. I suppose they will have to put a 50% fuel duty on electricity instead in order to recoup the loss in this revenue! |
| Posted: 13 Aug 2021 03:45 PM PDT Kit made to 22 litres at starting SG of 1040 - and incudes 25g of hops; no idea what type or mix. Yeast labelled '69' Started well - slow finish to fermentation. Hops added towards end of fermentation . Bottled with 140g of priming at SG 1018 - maybe too early Results - well, anyone reading my posts knows I am no gourmet - this was a bit frothy so I think bottled too early - however it's very tasty and friends have knocked it back very happily. | Posted: 13 Aug 2021 02:27 PM PDT Hi All Before going on holiday a week or so again, I kegged a couple of batches I'd had fermenting. My usual setup is ferment for 12 days after brew day, into a corny, put under pressure and cold conditioned in a fridge for 2-3 weeks. I've just got home and realised one of the fridges hadn't been switched on. The keg has been kept under pressure as normal but with no temperature control at all. Will this have caused harm to the beer or if I switch fridge on now and give it some time to... Cold conditioning blunder!! |

I'm having trouble sourcing some of the grains used in some of the IPA recipes I'm finding.
