Fermentation temp too high

Posted: 22 Aug 2021 07:53 PM PDT

Hi all

Need to know if I've ruined my current brew.

Yesterday I brewed a milkshake ipa and used CML haze yeast. The packet stated 15-20c temp range. I was in a rush in the end and pitched at 22c. Then only managed to get it in to my fermentation chamber after 24 hours. When I taped up the probe it showed 24c. I have now dropped it to 19c.

I'm planning to dry hop and add vanilla & mango.

So basically have I got a ruined batch on my hands? If so can I do anything to rectify? Will my late...

Keeping pumps clean

Posted: 22 Aug 2021 02:42 PM PDT

I use the small 12 volt dc solar pumps for recirculating and transferring during my brew day. When I've finished a circulate hot clean water through the pumps and when it's time to brew again they get stripped down to clean all the nasty black gunge out and sanitise. I'm thinking this must be a problem with all pumps left wet after a brew day. I did strip the pumps down immediately after brew day for a clean and air dry then I left them in bits until next brew day but for some reason...

PB leaking , not cap or tap!

Posted: 22 Aug 2021 02:20 PM PDT

Hi, help needed.
Been away for a week and got back to find one of my PB's leaking from the molding . Just above the tap.
there is still pressure in the barrel and beer tastes ok,( woodfordes Wherry). After I'd drawn some of to taste the leak got worse so I've tilted the barrel on its side to stop the leak.
what can I do now ? I've got a spare barrel I could transfer it too but is there anyway to repair it.
Any help appreciated

How to reduce FG?

Posted: 22 Aug 2021 02:02 PM PDT

I made a lager recipe and i wanted to make beer with high volume a bout 6.5-7% and a low Fg. Lower than 1.010
But lowering the fg was too difficult for me
Maybe if the atteunuation is more than 82%,i can set the desired Fg. I dont know the exact way
Maybe is it possible to add more Yeast to beer? Or is there another way to reduce Fg?

Explosive Mobile?

Posted: 22 Aug 2021 01:41 PM PDT

My mobile phone looked a bit odd this afternoon, it seemed to be swelling. I showed it to my Grandson, who supplied it, and he said it could burst into flames or explode any minute, and put it out in the garden. As it had lived in my trouser pocket for years, that was rather worrying!

Has anybody else had a similar problem?

Dry hop again?

Posted: 22 Aug 2021 12:48 PM PDT

Hi all,
I've just kegged my mountain IPA, I used a couple of the tea strainer things with the hops in for the dry hop but it didn't work at all as I put too many hops in each, they were about half full when I put them in but completely stuffed when I took them out. The hops were very compacted and none of the hop aroma has transferred to the beer so it's a bit of a waste of hops as I can hardly taste the 150g or so I put in.
The beers itself is good, just a bit bland. I have around 16l in...

My Keto Journey

Posted: 22 Aug 2021 12:29 PM PDT

Hey guys. I am wanting to document my Keto journey here if this is ok with the admins.

I am struggling with my weight and thought it was about time I did something about it.

We have done Keto before - the husband is T2D so it is much better for him to eat this way. No medication is needed then as his blood sugar is stable.

On some days that I'm cooking I will post some pics of what we've had for dinner and so on, and I'm hoping to lose some weight in the process.

An Englishman, a Scotsman and an Irishman walk into a pub.

Posted: 21 Aug 2021 07:37 PM PDT

They proceed to each buy a pint of Guinness. Just as they were about to enjoy their drink, three flies landed in their pints - one in each. The Englishman pushed his beer away from him in disgust. The Scotsman fished the offending fly out of his beer and continued drinking it as if nothing had happened. The Irishman picked the fly out of his drink, held it out over the beer and then started yelling, "SPIT IT OUT YOU THIEVING BASTARD!!!".

A Kit Clone as Classic as The Original.

Midwest Supplies
Introducing Blue Loon White Ale. Answer the nights cry.

The next Blue Moon isn't until 2023, so we've chosen today's seasonal Blue Moon to release our newest clone: Blue Loon. A Minnesota take on a Colorado classic, this clone kit creates the same bright citrus, hazy glow, and baked bread aroma of the Belgian Witbier you know and love.

Blue Loon White Ale Beer Recipe Kit Tasting Radar

Brewer's Notes

"This recipe pays homage to a beer that has unequivocally introduced many people to the world of craft beer. Wheat and barley combine to create a smooth base for the real heroes to shine. Spanish sweet orange peel and coriander provide a flavor blast that takes center stage.

This Belgian-inspired ale is an absolute classic in the beer realm, and this is my take on it. Although not fermented with Belgian yeast, the characteristic ingredients remain the same to make it an American take on the classic Witbier style. Expect to find notes of fresh bread with supporting citrus notes of lemon and orange and a slight haze.

If you are crafting this recipe by all-grain traditional mash tun methods, I recommend adding some rice hulls to prevent the mash from getting stuck due to the high percentage of huskless wheat. If you are brewing with malt extract or conducting a BIAB approach, no modifications are necessary. Have fun with this recipe, it will produce a quaffable ale that you will be proud of."
