Just One Super Frothy ??

I was 2/3 of the way through a normal batch of Tallies.

Then I get one bottle that just froths away as soon as I opened it.

So I fill my Glass with Froth, and quickly have to grab a 2nd and then a 3rd

I'm left with about 1/4 a bottle when the Froth stopped

Can anyone give me an explanation as to why one bottle might do this ?

  1. It had been fridged like others
  2. It hadn't been shaken
  3. It didn't give off a mass of gas when the top was popped

Has anyone made a high alcohol content scrumpy using turbo yeast (according to the makers.) Tasted some at nearly 17% on the weekend that was sensational. It was then aged in an oak barrel. More like a smooth fortified wine but they assured me it wasn't.

Fire extinguisher valve stuck?

Hi folks,
I tried out using a fire extinguisher as a source for co2, I tried gassing up a corny keg, a small one 9 litres and the regulator got very cold and started to kinda frost up a little, the fire extinguisher was in it's upright position, I'm now thinking I should have inverted it and used it upsidedown, anyway it seems like when I let the fire extinguisher handle go as in the off position, it still letting gas through to the regulator, could the valve be stuck open? Hello all,

I started brewing kits at around the beginning of December 2020. My first kit was a Simply Lager Kit which came with the starter set up, brewing buckets etc. I then brewed a Coopers Hefe Wheat Kit using Dry wheat spray malt and the results were great. I along with a little help from my neighbour, tucked into the beers as soon as they were ready and the 2 brews were gone far too quickly. So I decided that I would continue to brew, but hold off on drinking my own beer for a while...

Hi Guys, I have started doing some bottle beers from kits, I have a couple of kegs on the go but I thought I would try bottling a few months ago, the issue that I have is the sediment in the bottle, I have it in the fermentation bucket for 2 weeks, then I bottle it and put 1-1/2 tablets in each bottle, I leave that for 2 weeks in a warm place, then I put it in the cellar for a further 2 weeks and the beer on the whole tastes ok, but it's this bloody sediment, would the beer be ok if I bought...

I've taken the plunge and built a kegerator with a twin Corny set. It has a y splitter which supplies the Gas to two Cornys via Quick Connect. Can I leave one keg attached and the second quick connect disconnected or should both quick connects be attached whilst the gas is on? (I only have one keg filled at the moment)

Prompted by another thread on Fermentis' safale T58, I've been thinking a bit about the use of dry yeasts in Belgian beers and by Belgian breweries. There is some suggestion online - quite convincing - that Struise use T58 for Pannepot, and De Ranke use T58 blended with S33 (or maybe another Fermentis strain) for XX Bitter. Are the use of these, and other dry yeast strains more prevalent in Belgian breweries - i.e. micros that won't have their own proprietary strain - than might be obvious...

I only joined the group a few days ago and today was my first brewday since joining so I thought I ought to give this a go - at least once.

Starting with the crime scene, I revamped our garden a couple of years ago. My wife wanted decking, a gazebo, and comfortable seating, I wanted a bar, win-win!

I was trying out the secondhand induction hob and 27 l stainless steel pan I recently picked up ( also got a copper wort chiller )
to make an American Pale mini mash kit from the Malt Miller.

crisp pale wheat malt 200 gm
crisp munich malt 150 gm
crisp crystal malt 150 gm

60 mins mash at 65c

30 mins boil then

Another dumb question - sorry! My batch of 30litres of chardonnay has been fermenting for 7 days - I've had two hydrometer readings of 1000, but have noticed the occasional rumble from the airlock. thought it had stopped. Will it affect the wine if I leave it on the dead yeast for maybe another week? Just want to make sure I'm not degassing/clearing too soon. Thanks for any advice!
