Posted: 15 Apr 2021 07:54 PM PDT How do I know when the carbonation is ready, my MYO stout kit says to give just 3 days for it. Looking the bottle I don't see any bubble on it, I didn't shake the bottle to be honest. Today I am putting them for clearing, so will be cold and no more co2 formation.... Would be safe? |
Disappointing hop flavour/aroma Posted: 15 Apr 2021 07:42 PM PDT Hi guys I've brewed 15 all grain batches of beer (each very small - 6 litres) and every one has been APA or IPA. As an unashamed hop head I'm trying to recreate the hop flavour and aroma found in some of my favourite commercial brews (for example: Madness IPA, Cannonball IPA, Gamma Ray, Life & Death IPA etc.) Overall I'm pretty happy with the beers that I've made - they're perfectly drinkable and I can't detect any "home brew" type flavours. However, they're definitely missing a lot of... Disappointing hop flavour/aroma |
Posted: 15 Apr 2021 05:28 PM PDT Having always said, 'I am not really a stout drinker', before Christmas I brewed a stout, mainly to give to a neighbour. This was based on a Coopers Irish Stout kit but pimped as per suggestions from @terrym. Well all I can say is that my neighbour didn't end up with too many bottles as I found it bl###y luverly. Anyway, I am now moving away from kits and brewing small batch all-grain beers (around 10 to 11.5L), so thought a stout should be one of the next to do, so I... Small Batch Irish Stout? |
Posted: 15 Apr 2021 05:12 PM PDT Just a quick message to thank Ben for his great service. Won a hop raffle a few weeks ago, but never received the hops. Quick email to Ben and he got a second package sent out which I received today. Cheers @BenParr. |
Posted: 15 Apr 2021 04:43 PM PDT Nothing special a wholemeal bread with pumpkin seed and caraway seed, family get together tomorrow will be making some cheese and onion bread, maybe even some tomato and basil. |
When do you start drinking a new brew? Posted: 15 Apr 2021 04:40 PM PDT I brewed a landlord clone 30/3 and racked to brite tank 11/4. It's carbed up and I was planning on serving through a beer engine. When would you think this is ready? I usually drink early but not sure I should be for this style. Is there a rough idea, 3/4/5 weeks? OG was 1.044. |
Posted: 15 Apr 2021 03:40 PM PDT Thought i'd bring all my brewdays together in one thread. Had a day off today and because Foxbats Mainline beer seems to have been the most popular amongst my friends, alongside GH's Paterbeir I thought I would brew it again. Looking for somewhere between 17-20l for the FV and am still finding my way around my cygnet water boiler so using fag packet maths I used 300og Maris Otter 120g Caramalt 40g Chocolate Wheat 100g Crystal that I found at the bottom of the box and decided to get... Posted: 15 Apr 2021 02:51 PM PDT Well, what did you expect! I've done Victorian Bitter, Victorian Mild, and now .... This is actually hastily summarised from my ramblings om "Jim's" forum, but I wasn't going to miss the opportunity of possibly being scrutinised by @patto1ro if he's still nosing in on this forum (but I've already made the mistake of thinking he was a one-day fleeting visit). But even without his input, I think there's plenty of folk here that can make useful additions. Note, this is... Victorian Porter |
Posted: 15 Apr 2021 02:37 PM PDT Anyone brewed a good one of these? I had hoped the GEB Crisp English IPA would be a good go-to for a dry hoppy lower alcohol summer quaffer. It's definitely a nice beer, but way off the mark for what I was looking for. Here's my first go at redressing the balance. The plan; more interesting the grain bill with a bit of caraplis to plump up the body and improve head retention, a decent addition of simcoe to get the the IBU's to something over and above the OG, and Notty yeast for well... Posted: 15 Apr 2021 01:52 PM PDT Looking for recommendations for a digital thermometer, don't want to spend loads as only now getting into All Grain Brewing. |
Violent Fermentation for 2 weeks Posted: 15 Apr 2021 01:43 PM PDT Hi folks Im making a MYO (the Range) red just now but it wont calm down !!. Its been having a violent fermentation and making no effort to calm down for 2 weeks now Temp has been a steady 22 degrees .Is this normal or should i try to raise the temp a little? I was going to take a hydrometer reading but when I opened the lid it still had froth about 1" thick so no point as I couldn't get a reading . |
Posted: 15 Apr 2021 01:42 PM PDT I have been using my Robobrew successfully since June last year. To cool I have the wort chiller, which I attached with an adapter to my kitchen tap. However the tap needed to be replaced, and when choosing the new one I failed to take into account the attaching of the cooling hoses. It's a mixer type which it's impossible to find an adapter for. Therefore I am unable to use the wort chiller. Any ideas? At present I'm back to my old BIAB method |
Posted: 15 Apr 2021 01:14 PM PDT Apologies if this is the wrong forum, but I finally finished this which had been some time in the making which I am quite chuffed with the end result This got me thinking has anyone else done anything similar? I'm also looking for some inspiration on a creative way to use some interesting bottle caps I have kept. |
Corny keg floating ball system Posted: 15 Apr 2021 01:12 PM PDT Anyone using these Do they work any flaws what's the general rating |
