Posted: 26 Apr 2021 06:52 PM PDT So I guess I'm rather new here so I hope it's ok to start a thread here, I think it might be more useful than the written records I keep. Today trying a stepped starter for the first time since the packs of Lallemand diamond yeast I have are not even remotely close to the pitch rate I'm looking for the two lagers I'm looking to do this weekend. I had thought of just doing one but if I'm going to tie up my fermenting fridge for weeks at a low temperature I thought I might as well make best... Anna's Brewdays |
Posted: 26 Apr 2021 06:27 PM PDT I think I've seen references to this in other threads with people mentioning the great names that some beers have. A couple of examples I recall seeing on this forum are an NEIPA called "Juice Forsyth" and a Brut IPA called "Brut Reynolds". What prompted me to post this is that I've just seen that a local brewery to me have a hazy Pale ale called " Is Citra way to Amarillo" which I thought was brilliant. There must be so many other good ones. |
2 fermenters or 1 fermenter and 1 bright tank? Posted: 26 Apr 2021 04:58 PM PDT Ok, so I like to make lager. Takes a while but o enjoy it. I'm still really new to brewing in general so don't really have a handle on everything and bright tanks are new to me. I'm in the process of designing my new setup, but I think I can change my fermentation setup immediately. being as lager takes so long, I am considering 2 fermenters. The SS brew bucket fits neatly under my bench, which means I can also put one on the bench. this seems ideal, but reading up on what a bright tank... 2 fermenters or 1 fermenter and 1 bright tank? |
Mangrove Jacks Bavarian Wheat 1st try Posted: 26 Apr 2021 04:23 PM PDT Hello Everyone, I am a newbie in Homebrewing and i am doing my first try with a bavarian Wheat of Mangrove Jacks. I have done whole the process correct i believe and i want to ask some questions. I am in 13th day of fermentation. I still have bubbles (1 every 10 minutes). Are the bubbles a criterion for the completion of the fermentation? Is this the time to take a SG reading in order to check if i am in the desired one? If i am not mistaken the SG reading should be the same for 48 hours... Mangrove Jacks Bavarian Wheat 1st try |
Mangrove Jacks Juicy Session IPA Posted: 26 Apr 2021 04:20 PM PDT Having my first pint of this and got to say what a fantastic pint. Very fruity, reminds me of a slightly less complex clwb tropica. Gave the Citra hops 7 days and introduced during the last 3 days of active fermentation. Tempted to brew again and possibly add galaxy hops during dry hopping for around 3 days. Brewed on 18th March so still "early" initially carbed up in bottles after 7 days. Not fussed on achieving clarity |
Posted: 26 Apr 2021 02:51 PM PDT Good evening all. I have just bought my second kit to brew, my first one in the end turned out nice after all the troubles to start with. This time instead of a lager I have gone for the werry ale and was wondering what can be added into it to give a different taste. I was thinking about some honey. At what point do.i.add the honey is it.during fermenting stage or at keeping stage instead of sugar, Thanks in advance |
Posted: 26 Apr 2021 02:26 PM PDT I think, in fact I know I am not the only member here who does a bit of cycling, maybe not all as obsessed as myself but nevertheless I thought anyone with an interest could post pictures of your bikes, it doesn't have to be an £10k super bike as long as you enjoy riding it, perhaps with a little bit about it or how you enjoy cycling. So I have a few bikes and here is a handful of them.......... First my pride and joy the Ridley Noah SL, this aero bike took me to 10 race wins last year and... Show us your Pushbikes |
Posted: 26 Apr 2021 02:26 PM PDT Just like the other cool kids, time to move away from individual posts and collate everything from now on into a single thread..... AG#15 "Podium" Late Hopped IPA ('cos there are 3 kinds of hops, innit) This is actually a rebrew of my AG#5, probably still my personal favourite brew to date - but there are a few tweaks, oh, and some stuff to make it way more complicated than it needed to be - why can't I just keep things simple!

What kit beer are you drinking tonight? Posted: 26 Apr 2021 02:25 PM PDT As the title says - What are you drinking tonight? |
Posted: 26 Apr 2021 02:24 PM PDT My Cabernet Sauvignon has spewed everywhere overnight . Is there anything I can do to save it? It is in a fridge in the shed kept at 23C over a heating mat. The mat kicks in at 22.5 and the fridge kicks in at 23.5. It's only been going since Thursday so 3 days. |
Posted: 26 Apr 2021 02:23 PM PDT Hello all, just after a bit of advice please. My next brew will be Wilko's Chocmeister stout which I have brewed before with Muntons beer enhancer and 50g chocolate malt. It turned out really well but I'm thinking about adding some fresh ground coffee to this next batch. Thing is, I'm not sure how much coffee to add. I don't want to overpower it, but rather a nice background taste behind the chocolate. Thoughts, comments and advice welcome |
Posted: 26 Apr 2021 02:10 PM PDT So I've just bought 10kg of frozen rhubarb so I thought I'd go a bit mad (what's new?) I've made a 5 gallon mead and a 5 gallon wine. 5kg of rhubarb in each one. Didn't want a strong flavour so we'll see if that's enough. The mead is the first pic. Think I need help! |
