How Beverage Alcohol Brands Can Leverage Interactive Packaging

Thanks to iPhone and Android camera technology, consumers are able to scan QR codes and NFC chips more easily than ever before. Some brands are using this scannable technology on their bottles, shelf talkers, or neckers to capture consumer attention, dollars, and data.

Marketing agency Affinity Creative recently worked with a spirits brand on a QR code that directed consumers back to a site featuring the brand's story, leading to an increase of 8,812 email subscribers and a 21,497% increase in social media impressions. JCB Collection uses NFC chips on the back label of their wines to allow consumers to learn about each wine before purchasing.

“Interactive packaging allows us to tell the story that for years we dreamed of conveying to the consumer,” said Jean-Charles Boisset of the JCB Collection.
