DTC Wine Shipments Holding Strong As On-Premise Recovers
Direct-to-consumer (DTC) shipments for wine saw an 18% value increase and 4% volume in June when compared to June of 2020, according to data from Wine Vine Analytics and Sovos ShipCompliant. The increase came despite the comparison to last year’s hyper-impacted market and the strong return of the on-premise, a good sign for the DTC channel. Growth was led by the $100+ price tier, while the below $30 tier declined.
Contrastingly, off-premise retail sales for wine have dropped from last year with the resurgence of the on-premise, according to NielsenIQ. Off-premise sales on dollars and volumes are still up, however, when compared to two years ago.
