Dextrine malt for head retention Posted: 21 Jul 2021 08:05 PM PDT My beers seem a weak in terms of head retention - especially the bitters which I prefer to carb only very lightly. I'm wondering whether a bit of dextrine malt might be an idea to help with this. The Simpsons stuff says "use sparingly (up to 5%) to add body and foam stability" but I'm wondering if anyone has experience of using this type of malt Ta |

Posted: 21 Jul 2021 04:30 PM PDT Well today I went at my taps and keggerator with Ernest pulling them apart as they have been out of use for a few months. Dismantled both taps to clean in a mixture of fairy and oxi and the amount of gunk wet and dried that came off was disgusting and didn't even take a picture but take my word. Anyway cleaned and sanitised as is the keggerator and a full keg of Pale Ale I brewed in October which I sampled last night and will murder after I've transferred a lager to keg and start cold... Posted: 21 Jul 2021 03:25 PM PDT I think i have just lost 2 brews due to high fermentation temperature time will tell. I have a brew fridge which i use but on the odd occasion i may have a couple of brews on the go .This is not normally a problem as being up North its normally keeping the fermenter warm thats the problem and i just bring them into the house from the garage with a heat mat and controller . Though my wife does complain about them being there . So i was thinking i dont want another brew fridge but something... Ferminator/Peltier Chamber |
Posted: 21 Jul 2021 01:28 PM PDT Hey everyone. My name is Wayne and I'm from Spalding in Lincolnshire. Not altogether new to brewing, but recently discovered a passion for brewing ciders. Currently investigating turbo ciders… right now I have 5 Gallons of Elderflower, Honey, Grape and lemon balm wine on the go… along with 1 Gallon of Apple, Mango, Orange and PassionFruit turbo cider. Both experimental, so don't judge! .. looking forward to hearing everyone's weird but wonderful creations… |
Behind The Curve (Documentary on Flat Earthers) Posted: 21 Jul 2021 12:46 PM PDT I saw the documentary on the subject yesterday. According to it, a great many people believe the Earth is flat and that folks who believe it's round have been being fooled for centuries. It was very interesting to hear the arguments in favor of the Earth being flat. What I observed that was most revelatory about Flat Earthers was that in two instances, Flat Earthers did experiments themselves to prove the Earth was flat and in each case the experiment supported the fact that the Earth was... Secondary fermentation in bottles. Posted: 21 Jul 2021 12:25 PM PDT Hi guys, just a quick Question, how long do you normally leave your bottles before cracking them open? I normally leave them in the shed for 3 weeks before drinking as a rule of Cheers |
Posted: 21 Jul 2021 12:23 PM PDT Now then gentlemen. It's one of the hottest sweatiest days of the year and I'm off for the snip... Any other "Decommissioned" men have any tips for me and my swift recovery? I remember my dad saying his swelled up like a coconut and he had crutches. But he may well have used a local farmer instead of a doctor. And another mate paid for a general anesthetic so he was out for the whole thing. Coward! |
