Posted: 25 Aug 2021 04:34 PM PDT Monday 23rd August 2021 07:34 Wake up - Think of everything I could do to get ahead on the brew day. Spend 15 minutes procrastinating and fall asleep. Five Points Best 09:29 I recirculate 10 litres boiling water through the recirc pipe, whirlpool arm, CFC and measure water additions. I rub the small of my back and think "I'm too old for this ****" I add the full liquor volume to the kettle and add sodium... St00s Br00 Days |
Posted: 25 Aug 2021 03:30 PM PDT Thought I'd jump on the old bandwagon and make the move on from the "what did you brew today" thread. I suppose that even if no-one reads it I'll have a record for myself Oh well, here goes Busy day today. After setting out at kegging my Old Freckled Chicken and being faced with the prospect of having an empty FV I decided today would be my second consecutive brew day. I'm now on a mission to use up existing hop supplies with a 25kg sack of clear choice pale malt but didn't have enough... Mark K's Brewdays |
Posted: 25 Aug 2021 02:38 PM PDT See what you make of this, because I can't figure it out. I brewed a stout using some opened bags of grains and hops that I wanted to get rid of before I move house (recipe below). The OG was .050. The fermentation started off okay, fairly vigorous. After four days, the airlock activity stopped but I wasn't worried, and left it for another four days at which point I took another reading; the SG was .040. I roused the yeast, and left it for another week - no change in SG. So I made a yeast... Fermentation Conundrum |
How long to leave in primary fermentation? Posted: 25 Aug 2021 02:15 PM PDT Hi all, My first brew (Muntons West Coast IPA) is in its primary fermentation stage. Thanks to my lack of planning (!) I have a few trips coming up around the 14 day mark (when the kit instructions says to move to secondary fermentation). I've outlined a timeline below: 21/07 - Started brewing 31/07 - Will add hops (as per kit instructions) 03/08 - 7/08 - Trip away. During this trip is 4/08 = 14 days fermented 07/08 - 09/08... Lisa and Jim’s Brewday Part 1 - 7/8/21 Posted: 25 Aug 2021 02:10 PM PDT After a disappointment as our new PH meter didn't work, we decided to carry on without it. First off we connected the kitchen telly to the laptop, so we could see Brewfather instructions clearly. Filling the Brewzilla with the mash water Organising the water salts (made a right mess!) Posted: 25 Aug 2021 01:21 PM PDT I am about to bite the bullet and go down the corny kegerator route. I bought a keg locally that came with a party tap and another tap (see pic). I have sourced a c02 pub gas bottle from my local pub. I have convinced hubby that we need to make a kegerator, which he say's he will help me make. We have a small chest freezer and a tall fridge we could convert, but I think the fridge is going to be the one to be converted. I have spent ages over the last couple of weeks doing my homework and... Kegerator newbie set up help |
Posted: 25 Aug 2021 01:18 PM PDT Just like the other cool kids, time to move away from individual posts and collate everything from now on into a single thread..... AG#15 "Podium" Late Hopped IPA ('cos there are 3 kinds of hops, innit) This is actually a rebrew of my AG#5, probably still my personal favourite brew to date - but there are a few tweaks, oh, and some stuff to make it way more complicated than it needed to be - why can't I just keep things simple!

Posted: 25 Aug 2021 01:09 PM PDT Some people may not want to write out a full brewday report but just say what they brewed. So what did you brew today? I made a 'bit's and bobs stout' to use up the odds and ends of grain I had |
