Posted: 09 Aug 2021 05:06 PM PDT I've got a peroni clone which is cold crashing before kegging, but the yeast doesn't seem to be packing down very well. Its W34/70. I've not had this before, is it normal for this yeast? Anything I can do to help it pack down before kegging? Thinking I'll either pull some across into the keg or lose some volume. Any advice? |

Posted: 09 Aug 2021 02:54 PM PDT Well after watching these brewday threads from the sidelines for over a year I finally decided to jump in and join the crowd. As much so I can make notes and remember what I did and when as I'm terrible at writing stuff up on brewdays. I tend to use a mixture of BeerSmith and a whiteboard in my garage but thought I'd start adding stuff on here as a bit of a diary. So, last weekend was a double brew day! First off was a variation of Dennis King's Galaxy Delight. Been meaning to brew this... Clyne's (BrewBru's!) brewday |
Posted: 09 Aug 2021 02:20 PM PDT I can take no credit for this but would like to pass on the info... YouTube... Misty Ricardo...and follow! I mix bits from recipes to get where I want it and add as much heat as you like. Makes "British Indian restaurant" style curries. A bit of messing about to get set up but nothing you can't find at a decent supermarket or Asian store. This is tandoori chicken Madras.. |

Free hops to collect - Scotland Central Belt - Now offering postage (details in post #6) Posted: 09 Aug 2021 01:50 PM PDT The very generous Dave Lannigan at Ride Brewing Co has offered up some spare hops for collection, these are whole leaf hops. I've already filled all that I could from the kind offer from Glasgow home brewers facebook group. Dave apparently has more and has offered for me to collect them. Now I already have plenty but if there were takers from Central Scotland that would like some free whole leaf hops then I'd be willing to collect a few bales and if you brought your own containers you could... Posted: 09 Aug 2021 01:37 PM PDT Ive been brewing 9 months now and i have done many batches using a plastic bucket fermenter and transferring into the lid of the keg with a beer line then closing the lid and purging it a few times with co2 before carbonating. Im looking to change and i was thinking of purchasing a fermzilla but it seems to need a lot of extras im also curious about fermenting in a corny keg if anyone has any opinions. I understand i need a spunding valve but also im wondering how much height of trub will... Fermenting in corny keg |
Posted: 09 Aug 2021 01:27 PM PDT Some people may not want to write out a full brewday report but just say what they brewed. So what did you brew today? I made a 'bit's and bobs stout' to use up the odds and ends of grain I had |
Posted: 09 Aug 2021 01:04 PM PDT Hello all First time using lactose and need some advice. My plan is to knock up a simple pale ale around 20l and want to split the batch. 10l to be used for a mango milkshake pale ale with lactose and the other 10l without lactose. So question is, can I add by mixing in the lactose when I stir/aerate the wort just prior to yeast pitch? Many thanks in advance… |
