U.S. Leads World with $5.9 Billion in Wine Imports in 2020
The United States is importing more wine (still, sparkling and fortified, as well as grape must) by dollar value than any other country in the world, according to Decanter. The country imported $5.9 billion during 2020, down slightly from $6.5 billion in 2018 and 2019.
The trade route from France to the U.S. is the world's most valuable for wines, though the value dropped from $2.1 billion in 2019 to $1.8 billion in 2020, likely a result of wine tariffs imposed by the U.S. in 2019. The trade route from Italy to the U.S. has held steady at $1.7 since 2018, as Italy managed to avoid U.S. tariffs on wine import during that period.
