Sazerac CEO Bullish on Flavored Spirits & Competition
With over 450 different spirits brands, Louisiana-based Sazerac is uniquely tuned into current trends and forecasts in the spirits industry. Mark Brown, the President and CEO of Sazerac, recently expressed his optimism in the future of his company, bourbon in the U.S., and the growing demand for flavored whiskeys.
“We believe that we are in a long-term growth period for flavors and consumer demand across all demographics for flavor is strong," says Brown, who believes the key to flavor growth has been continuously-improving flavor technology that allows spirits producers to innovate and create interesting offerings.
He also believes the rise of craft distilleries over the last decade has pushed the industry to continue innovating, as well. “A vibrant and competitive industry promotes a great deal of innovation and allows all industry members to learn from each other,” said Brown. “This is exactly what we have seen in the past decade.”
