Posted: 17 Jul 2021 04:09 PM PDT Well it's been a long time coming due to other commitment, but today I finally did my third AG brew (woo Hoo). It was a day of 'firsts':

Posted: 17 Jul 2021 03:29 PM PDT It's easy! Give it a go! No mashing required. No temperature control required. Simple stove-top recipe. 9 litres water (do measure this fairly exactly, half a litre out is a lot on a small batch) Pinch calcium chloride 1/4 tsp citric acid 1.5 kg parsnips (typically come in 500 g bags in supermarkets) 350 g medium spraymalt 330 g Demerara sugar (the idea there is 3 batches out of a 1 kg bag) 50 g black malt 50 g chocolate malt (I started off with 100 g of black, which is fine, but I've got... Fermentaion/Kegerator Hybrid Fridge Posted: 17 Jul 2021 03:08 PM PDT Hi everyone, i have recently converted a under counter fridge to a fermentation fridge by adding a heating mat and connecting the mat and fridge to a InkBird, this seems to be working well, i was wondering though if it was possible and if anyone has converted their fermentation fridge to a kegerator by adding taps so they can transfer the fermented beer to a keg and drop the temp of the fridge then put the keg in the fridge and use it dispense their home brew, so the fridge has 2 purposes... Posted: 17 Jul 2021 02:55 PM PDT I have successfully brewed a partial mash recipe numerous times using a 2 U.S. gallon 'beverage cooler' to create my wort to which I then add 1.4kg of DME . I am now hoping to experiment with some adjustments to my hop bill but think it would make sense to know where I'm starting from in regard to the IBUs. My problem is that I don't know how to use a calculator if my boil is only 11ltrs (gravity about 1.033) but then I'm adding DME for the last 15min and then adding water to the fv to make... Sodium Percarbonate as a no rinse steriliser? Posted: 17 Jul 2021 02:47 PM PDT I have always used Sodium Percarbonate as a no rinse steriliser with no bad results. Today, I was informed that this is only a cleaner. In order to sanitise I must use Starsan. Any thoughts on this? |
Kegland 3 tap Series X kegerator - fitting the shanks Posted: 17 Jul 2021 02:39 PM PDT Hope the below might save someone some time and lost temper! Having received my 3-tap Series X this week unboxing & build commenced today. As expected everything is straightforward except mounting the taps. It is acknowledged that the 3-tap tower is a challenge to the sausage-fingered such as myself. After watching a couple of Youtube videos again - including Kegland's own - I had a brainwave. In brief here is how I made it simple. 1 Locate all the parts - the tower mount screws... Kegland 3 tap Series X kegerator - fitting the shanks |
Posted: 17 Jul 2021 02:38 PM PDT New Year's resolution is to start a brew day thread for the record and to share the ups and downs of various brews. Black Lager (from Greg Hughes p. 107) Middle son and his new wife came over from Madrid for Christmas and he said he'd like to see how easy or difficult it is to brew a batch in their small apartment. Already had a formulation for Dark Lager written out in the old brewing book so scaled it down to 12 litres and here we go: Followed Hughes' recipe pretty faithfully... An Ankoù brewday: |
Posted: 17 Jul 2021 02:29 PM PDT Hi all, mice been 50 years drinking beer but only recently got into making my own. I've brewed Muntons American Style IPA adding the recommended amount of carbonation drops into the pressure barrel after fermentation. When it was ready to drink it took about 4 pours on a slow dribble to fill a pint glass (not an issue really) due to it being very active. Its got easier to pour as I'm getting through it but the problem I have now is that with about 8-10 pints before it's empty, it is not... Carbonation issues |

Posted: 17 Jul 2021 01:26 PM PDT I just received a text I'm 99% sure is a scam. The NHS would use the nhs.uk domain and more likely this would be on the gov.uk domain. This particular domain was registered yesterday to a web hosting company. Copied from the snug covid thread C_T |

Posted: 17 Jul 2021 12:07 PM PDT Hello all, I am in an area of very hard water (>250ppm) and was looking at a 3-stage RO filter to dilute my water for pilsners. Recently, I've been boiling to soften which is going to be crazy expensive. I'm wondering which one to go for. I was looking at the following: Option 1 (£55)... RO Filters |
