Posted: 20 Aug 2021 06:49 AM PDT I recently bought a new fridge & relocated my old one into the garage to dedicate to beer for cold storage and potentially lagering. It was running fine as an indoor fridge but seems to be struggling outdoors with temperatures ranging from 6-12 degrees, which for Melbourne winter isn't much better than ambient. I've tried adjusting thermostat to no avail & I'm fairly confident it's sealing well. It is nearly empty at the moment so I thought the low thermal mass and a small leak might be the... Posted: 20 Aug 2021 03:07 AM PDT All, I recently brewed a ripper NEIPA which I was super happy (hoppy) with on opening the first bottle, about 2 weeks in…. The aroma and flavour was stunning and as good as I could get in a craft beer bar….. However, now about 2 months old and all the aroma is gone, the flavours are muted, colour is darker and overall I am disappointed, it's still drinkable (not sour), but I am wondering where all my hard work has gone? l reuse brown PET bottles, well sanitized and they are still gassed... Posted: 19 Aug 2021 08:19 PM PDT Hasn't been used for a couple of years now, been sitting in a cupboard. It still works, it was just getting a bit load at the time but I powered it up before and it was whisper quiet. Might be after its been running for awhile? I did replace the impeller and thrust washer not long before I stopped using it. As you can see in the photos the Mount is a bit rough, all the paint has flaked off and is rusting. There's a few other spots as well around the main body. Has a 3 pin plug on the end... FS: Chugger Pump inline |
FS: Bris (pickup only) Bulk base malts and spec malts Posted: 19 Aug 2021 07:21 PM PDT Hi all, moving in a few weeks and the brewery is likely to be in storage for 6-12 months, so might as well move on my consumables. Malts listed below. All sealed in airtight containers with the spec malts vac-sealed. You'll need to byo bags, buckets, whatever for the base malts as I'm taking my drums with me, but the spec malts are all vac-sealed in bags - I've discarded any bags where the seal has failed. Note that I've got the batch analysis for most of the base malts listed here, but... FS: Bris (pickup only) Bulk base malts and spec malts |

Posted: 19 Aug 2021 05:59 PM PDT Hi all. Quick question for everyone. First time Lager brewer. This will be my fourth brew in total but first Lager (rest have been ales). Just wondering if anyone puts a light dry malt into their mix? I'm planning on throwing in some corn syrup and dextrose but curious as to whether anything else should go in to it? Cheers |

FS: 4x Used 19 litre corny kegs Posted: 19 Aug 2021 02:27 PM PDT I have 4 used kegs that I no longer use. 2 are Cornelius brand, 1 aeb and 1 random. They're all a bit rough but all hold pressure, except the aeb one which doesn't have a lid. They've been sitting for probably 2 years with sanitiser in them but are clean. I'd probably be changing the seals. $50 each $40 for the one without a lid. Or make me an offer. Pickup kirrawee, NSW. |
FS: Plate Chiller and Tri clover Trub Filter Posted: 19 Aug 2021 01:53 PM PDT Up for sale is my plate chiller and brewers hardware trub filter. The plate chiller is duda diesel brand, model, B3-36A 30 Plate, link below. I used a pond pump with this to pump ice water through, I could get a single batch to lager temps in one pass to the fermenter, ale temps in one pass for a double batch straight to the fermenter. I always pumped pbw through it for 10mins after each brew. The wort side looks brand new in there, the water side not so much. I'll mark which side is...
