Posted: 05 Aug 2021 07:03 PM PDT Not only is this good news for our area it should also give others involved something to think about, the local police have clamped down hard on it and seem to be finding plenty of people involved i am sure plenty of members have the same problems with drugs in their area and its nice to read something is being done. ... Posted: 05 Aug 2021 06:48 PM PDT I don't often see or hear anything that brings a lump to my throat but this just did - what a star. @davidschneider In today's episode of Human Beings Are Wonderful: |
Posted: 05 Aug 2021 05:56 PM PDT I only joined the group a few days ago and today was my first brewday since joining so I thought I ought to give this a go - at least once. Starting with the crime scene, I revamped our garden a couple of years ago. My wife wanted decking, a gazebo, and comfortable seating, I wanted a bar, win-win! So this is where I also brew, at my bar, shown here in winter plumage (clear plastic PVC tarps fitted to two sides). |

Posted: 05 Aug 2021 02:59 PM PDT I have been given a specific water profile to use for a recipe, and as I use RO water as my source water, I thought it would be easy to build the exact profile. Here is the profile: Ca 100, Mg 7, Na 100, Cl 150, SO4 60 The closest my brewing software will get me with the salt additions I have in stock is: Ca 61, Mg 6, Na 63, Cl 149, SO4 60 So, pretty close, but I can't seem to raise the calcium and sodium without throwing something else out. I guess it's a bit of a balancing act but just... Matching a water profile |
Posted: 05 Aug 2021 02:22 PM PDT Some people may not want to write out a full brewday report but just say what they brewed. So what did you brew today? I made a 'bit's and bobs stout' to use up the odds and ends of grain I had |
Spirit mix still black after 2 weeks. Posted: 05 Aug 2021 01:26 PM PDT Hi I did my 1st spirit kit a few weeks back and did everything exactly to the kit. All the readings was spot on and everything was fine but now for some reason it hasn't cleared from the black carbon. It was while we had that red hot spell so I did wonder if it would take a little longer to clear as wasn't that cool. Any ideas please? Mark. |
Posted: 05 Aug 2021 12:26 PM PDT Hello Peeps, Can I make a wine kit using my beer equipment, or do I need extra stuff? Thanks. Jerry |
Posted: 05 Aug 2021 12:02 PM PDT Jodie Whittaker is standing down as the Doctor and to be honest when i heard i said who? as Its been years since i regularly watched it, 5 live had a bit of fun with the news asking listeners to ring in with their nominations for the next and they also asked who was listeners favourites from the past so lets have your views. Two votes as like me you may have a favourite old doctor from the early years and recent one. My vote for the next would be Eddie Izzard. |
Covid the jab and the final stage. Posted: 05 Aug 2021 10:00 AM PDT SWMBO is a front line worker (carer) she has had the first jab and is now tested twice a week she also has the lateral flow test with the results showing 30 minutes after the test whenever she goes to work on the other days, there are no cases of Covid where she works and there hasn't been for quite a while. I am hoping as a front line worker my turn will come soon my age will also help, its not often i am glad i am an old fart. |

Posted: 05 Aug 2021 09:34 AM PDT So I got a bit bored and decided to take a look at whirlpooling. A few recipes I am looking at brewing call for whirlpool additions with up to 30mins whirlpooling. I do a limited whirlpool with a large spoon to create a hop cone (pellets) to aid run-off but I ain't standing there for 30 mins spinning a spoon LoL. First attempt was with a pump to create a whirlpool, but after a trial the pump wasn't really up to it and I was looking at a lot of extra cleaning (not good). So a bit of extra... Whirlpool |
